This Privacy Policy explains how Send the Song ("Send the Song", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you visit sendthesong.org, create a personalized song, make a purchase, or otherwise use our services (collectively, the "Service").

By using the Service, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not use the Service.

Information We Collect

Information you provide

We may collect:

• Account information, such as your name, email address, profile image, and account identifiers when you sign in with Google.
• Song creation information, including the recipient's name, relationship, occasion, genre, vocal preference, language, memories, stories, personal messages, draft lyrics, edited lyrics, song title, and other instructions you submit.
• Generated content, including lyrics, audio recordings, previews, cover artwork, song metadata, and your selected version.
• Purchase information, including the product or song-credit pack purchased, payment status, transaction identifiers, billing country, and limited billing details provided by our payment processor. We do not store your full payment-card number.
• Communications, including support requests, feedback, and emails you send to us.

The information you provide about a song recipient may include personal information about another person. You are responsible for having an appropriate reason or permission to provide that information to us.

Information collected automatically

When you use the Service, we may automatically collect:

• IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed, timestamps, and diagnostic logs.
• Session cookies and similar technologies needed for login, security, preferences, checkout, and core site functionality.
• Security and abuse-prevention signals, including information processed by services such as Cloudflare Turnstile.
• Analytics information, if analytics are enabled, about how visitors interact with the Service.

How We Use Information

We use information to:

• Provide the guided song-creation experience and remember your progress.
• Generate lyrics, music, audio previews, cover artwork, and other requested results.
• Store your samples and unlocked songs and make them available in your library.
• Process payments, grant and redeem song credits, prevent duplicate charges, and maintain transaction records.
• Enable downloads and sharing features you choose to use.
• Authenticate users, secure accounts, prevent fraud and abuse, and troubleshoot errors.
• Send service-related emails, such as authentication, purchase, generation, and support messages.
• Analyze and improve the reliability, usability, and performance of the Service.
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we process information as necessary to perform our contract with you, pursue legitimate interests such as security and product improvement, comply with legal obligations, or based on your consent.

AI Processing

Song details, stories, instructions, and lyrics may be sent to third-party AI service providers to create text, music, audio, or artwork. These providers process the submitted information on our behalf or under their own applicable terms and privacy policies.

Do not include sensitive personal information that is unnecessary for creating the song. AI-generated results may reflect the information you provide, so review lyrics and other outputs before sharing them.

We do not use your private stories or generated songs to train our own general-purpose AI models. We do not authorize our service providers to use your content for unrelated advertising.

How We Share Information

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We may share information with:

• Authentication providers, such as Google, to sign you in.
• AI generation providers that create lyrics, music, audio, or artwork.
• Infrastructure and storage providers, including Cloudflare, to host the Service, protect it from abuse, and store private media.
• Payment processors, including Stripe, to complete purchases and prevent payment fraud.
• Email providers, including Resend, to deliver transactional and support emails.
• Analytics providers, including Google Analytics when enabled, to understand site usage.
• Professional advisers, authorities, or other parties when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights and safety, investigate fraud, or complete a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale of assets.

Service providers may change as the Service evolves. They receive only the information reasonably necessary to perform their services.

Song Storage, Previews, and Sharing

Generated media is stored in private storage and is normally delivered through authenticated Service endpoints. A limited song preview may be available in your account for up to 3 days after creation. Expired previews may be removed or become unavailable.

Unlocked songs and related creation details are generally retained while your account remains active, until you delete the song, request account deletion, or retention is no longer reasonably necessary. Purchase and transaction records may be retained for tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, and legal purposes.

If you create or enable a share link, people who receive the link may be able to view or play the information and content presented on the sharing page. Share links can be forwarded by recipients, so only share content you are comfortable making available to anyone who has the link. Disabling a share link does not remove copies already downloaded or independently saved by another person.

Data Retention

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including providing the Service, maintaining account history, resolving disputes, preventing abuse, and meeting legal obligations. Retention periods vary by data type:

• Browser drafts may remain in local storage on your device until cleared or replaced.
• Song previews are generally retained for up to 3 days.
• Unlocked songs and account content are generally retained until deleted by you or your account is closed.
• Support, security, and transaction records may be retained for longer where reasonably required.

Deletion from active systems may not immediately remove limited backup, security, or legal-compliance copies. Those copies will remain protected and be removed or isolated in accordance with our normal retention processes.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use essential cookies and local storage for authentication, security, language or interface preferences, and saving song-creation progress. We may also use analytics cookies if analytics are enabled. You can control cookies through your browser, but disabling essential storage may prevent login, checkout, draft recovery, or other parts of the Service from working.

Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards, including encrypted network connections, access controls, private object storage, authenticated media delivery, and payment processing through specialized providers. No online service can guarantee absolute security, and you use the Service at your own risk.

International Data Transfers

Our providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Where required, we rely on appropriate legal mechanisms and safeguards for international transfers. Privacy protections and government-access rules may differ between countries.

Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a portable copy of your personal information; to object to or restrict certain processing; or to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. These rights may be subject to legal exceptions, identity verification, and record-retention obligations.

Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact support@sendthesong.org so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

Third-Party Links and Services

The Service may link to third-party sites or use third-party services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, and we are not responsible for their independent practices.
